The Global Society Institute in Tarifa became a hub for intercultural exchange during the recent "Intercultural Marathon," organized by the network of the Anna Lindh Foundation.

The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including intercultural mediators, youth workers, social media influencers, artists, and leaders from different cultural communities.

The goal? To develop strategies for fostering community unity by addressing misleading narratives and promoting understanding.

A powerful art exhibition by local artist Yamila Abuámer Flores served as a catalyst for conversation. Her images of Palestinian women, accompanied by texts that humanize and counteract polarization, resonated deeply with attendees.

The event also featured a live dialogue circle, broadcast from Tarifa and streamed on YouTube. Participants discussed the importance of art in facilitating cross-cultural communication and building bridges between communities.

The Intercultural Marathon is just the beginning. The project will continue to grow, with plans for an expanded art exhibition, an intercultural festival, and networking opportunities for organizations fostering dialogue.

We believe that global leaders have a critical role to play in promoting mutual understanding and respect between cultures. The Global Society Institute in Tarifa has become a point where people from different countries and cultures come together to do their part in shaping the future.
