Isaac Winfield, an 11-year-old from Redditch, Worcestershire, England, initiated a local community service from his garden shed. Utilizing funds from his birthday, Isaac started a food bank in 2020, which has grown significantly. The family acquired an additional shed to accommodate the increasing donations.
In addition to the food bank, he launched a "gift bank" to provide presents for children during Christmas. Collaborating with the local pub, the gift bank has become an integral part of the community's holiday celebrations.
The impact of Isaac's holiday gift bank was palpable on its opening day, with an array of items like baby toys, books, dolls, teddies, blankets, and toiletries. The generosity was met with enthusiasm, as 200 children arrived on the first day to receive presents. Aligned with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 17, his endeavors illustrate the prospect of constructive change when individuals unite to enhance their community, thereby contributing to a more interconnected global society.
It’s safe to say the first day of Isaac’s present bank went well and was so well supported. We saw so many happy and emotional parents there, and they were so very grateful for the gifts our amazing community donated. - Isaac's team
